The comics, sci-fi, gaming and fantasy communities’ talents for homemade disguises, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics are definitely on display this weekend at the first ever HeroesCon, and we were there to check out the show as well as capture some of the stellar cosplay on display.

With the growing popularity of cosplay in the world of pop culture (as well as our own Best Cosplay Ever feature), the cosplay community has grown rich with costumers who specialize in creative and intensive skills, from sewing to prop work to makeup artistry, to help bring their beloved fictional characters to life. However, one cannot deny the integral role that cosplay photography plays in the cosplay community, both in properly documenting costume work and utilizing their own artistic talents in completing the transformation of bringing a fictional character to life. Going forward, this feature will occasionally spotlight a specific cosplay photographer who’s skills could put Peter Parker to shame.
Today’s featured cosplay photographer are Benn and Liz Robbins of Robbins Studios, who specialize in dynamic cosplay photography across the nation.

International Illustrators Collaborate With Children To Design T-Shirts For Indonesian Charity
A team of international artists teamed up with Face This, a Dutch foundation, to design a line of graphic t-shirts based off of the original artwork of Indonesian children, resulting in a collaboration that is both meaningful and stylish. Face The project was untaken to raise money for the Asy-Syifa community center (Bogor, Indonesia) through the means of turning their students' illustrations into t-shirts for sale. This year Face This has collaborated with renown illustrators to bring these designs to life. Cecilia Carlstedt, Ana Benaroya, Marguerite Sauvage, Kate Gibb, Dan Page, David Despau, KT Smail, Frida Wannerberger and Billie Jean, who offer unique design insight to create a chic spin on these fun ideas.
Little Girls Are Better At Designing Superheroes Than You, Says Alexandra Law
In efforts to showcase the design sensibilities of young aspiring superheroes, artist Alexandria Law created Little Girls Are Better At Designing Superheroes Than You, an art project wherein superheroes are illustrated and redesigned based on superheroic costumes worn by young girls. Law's project features submitted photos of little girls donning costumes based off of both licensed superheroes and original characters alongside illustrated interpretations of the look "in action," providing a fresh look on heroic aesthetics. From an incredibly wearable Wonder Woman dress with killer boots to chic, simplified adjustments to Power Girl and Huntress, these little heroines manage to embody the spirit of their idols while adding inventive style and flair; a skill that many comic professionals still struggle to master.
