If you are anything like me you start itching at the very mention of bed bugs. But, I would rather know what infestations are occurring in our area than not. Apparently, there could be a bed bug problem in Twin Falls.

The problem was discovered after a Twin Falls woman purchased a used bed and discovered it was infested with bed bugs. The women was then left with a $4,200.00 bill due to the extermination process.

According to KMVT, officials say they have received some calls about bed bugs, but not enough to be extremely concerned. Officials still urge residence to take preventative measures, when buying used furniture. Look in the corners and crevices of mattresses to ensure there are no visible bugs. Bed bugs are about an 8th of an inch in size and brown in color.

You should also be aware of the signs that your home is infested with bed bugs. If you see bits on your kids or yourself that are in a straight line of 4 or 5 bites in a row, you probably have bed bugs and will need to call your doctor.

You will also want to check you children's backpacks. Backpacks are a common place for  bed bugs to hide and an easy way for beg bugs to enter your home. Heat and vacuuming an area can help get rid of the pests but sometimes that’s not enough. If you are worried your home may have bed bugs call an exterminator.
