California ‘Poltergeist’ Home For Sale For First Time Since 1979
An iconic property used in one of the most famous horror films ever made has recently hit the Southern California real estate market for the first time in over 40 years. The backyard cemetery is not included in the sale. (A little movie humor there)
A true piece of Hollywood film history is available to anyone who can afford to live in one of the nicest parts of Southern California. Simi Valley is located 40 miles northwest of Los Angeles and is home to the property used for filming the 1982 horror classic Poltergeist.
Even if I had the money to blow, I'm not sure I could talk my family into living in the house due to its famous cameo.
Poltergeist is responsible for me not being able to sleep in the dark from about age seven to nine. I have my older brother to thank for allowing me to watch it while babysitting me. For those who have seen the movie, it was one of the first ever made that featured a frightening entity under a bed; in this movie, it was a clown that provided the jump scare.
The home used in many scenes in the film is up for sale for any wealthy, brave buyers. It hasn't been available on the market since 1979, according to The New York Post. The spacious property features parking for a travel trailer and swimming pool, and according to the real agent, it's "family-friendly." The asking price is around $1 million, according to the New York Post.
The staircase and swimming pool provided many scares in the original movie. In the movie, the home was built over a former cemetery which was the reason for the haunting. Even if I had the money to blow, I'm not sure I could talk my family into living in the house due to its famous cameo.
