A woman sleeping in a trash bin in Southern California had a rude awakening recently when a garbage truck scooped her up and loaded her. The incident happened 20 miles southeast of Los Angeles.

Here's a lesson for anyone who considers using a garbage dumpster as a means to get a good night's sleep. A woman in Buena Park had to be airlifted from the bowels of a waste truck by the Orange County Fire Department on March 22 and survived what might seem impossible. Details were shared by the Mercury News, which included a video of the rescue operation.

This story reminds me a lot of the incident that allegedly happened years ago where a scuba diver was picked up by a plane collecting water to take to a fire scene.

Trash collection is a hazardous enough job as it is, and it's not uncommon for animals to be trapped in these bins, but human beings are a rarity. Fatalities between garbage collection trucks and pedestrians are not as uncommon as one might think.

This story reminds me a lot of the incident that allegedly happened years ago where a scuba diver was picked up by a plane collecting water to take to a fire scene. The story goes that the diver's body was found in a tree near the drop zone. Luckily, the woman picked up by the waste truck survived the incident considering the compactors these vehicles have in the rear ends.

Sleeping in dumpsters is not recommended. Seeking shelter elsewhere is a good idea.
