Chubbuck Man Sentenced to Prison for Crimes Against Children

POCATELLO, Idaho – A 53-year-old Idaho man will spend almost two decades in prison for crimes he committed against children.

Chubbuck resident Vincent Miera was sentenced on Monday in U.S. District Court to more than 19 years in federal prison followed by a lifetime of supervised release for distributing sexually explicit images of minors, according to U.S. Attorney Bart M. Davis.

A news release from Davis’s office said Miera, who pleaded guilty in May, was also ordered to pay $25,000 in restitution to victims of the offense.

According to court records, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Miera’s Chubbuck home in June 2018, where they found that Miera had downloaded a large amount of child pornography from the internet, the news release said.

Officers also discovered two phones in Miera’s possession, which had 159 images and 588 videos of child pornography. Miera admitted in court that he distributed the child pornography through a texting application, according to the news release.

This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations in Idaho Falls and the Chubbuck Police Department.
