A Plea To Idaho Influencer Who Did Dangerous Powerline Stunt
The things young people are doing to attempt to get views and subscriptions through their social media accounts are getting worrisome.
There are a staggering number of young people trying to make a living by attempting dangerous feats through social media accounts on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Vimeo. The dad in me is very concerned about a recent Idaho stunt I watched.
If I could turn back time, I might have tried my hand at being a social media influencer. The idea of making money by uploading videos of things I'm doing in my personal life sounds like easy money. However, some people are risking their lives daily for the almighty share.
Aspiring Idaho Influencer Takes Things Too Far in Recent Video Upload
I have to say, a YouTube video shared on July 27 (Sunday) from the account of @208Ethan has me a bit concerned. It's a form of 'rooftopping', which is the act of recording yourself climbing to the top of a building or other object for the sake of elevating your social media status.

The channel's host, who looks to be a guy in his late-teens or early twenties, has shared content that includes videos of him jumping off 60-foot bridges over water, holding a canned beverage that gets shot by a friend (looks like a pellet gun) while camping, and some harmless rope swing and trampoline footage.
(WARNING: Do not try this under any circumstances. It's also illegal)
His most recent upload is of someone climbing a powerline tower and dangling their feet atop it, which takes stunts for the sake of subscriptions to a whole new, dangerous level. Electrical safety should be practiced anytime a person is around powerlines.
I realize that by sharing this video it's also giving this kid even more exposure, but I felt the need to try to get the message through to him that some stunts are just not worth attempting.
A number of people die every year from exposure to powerlines.
Please be careful.
