Did The New TV Show “Skins” Cross One Too Many Boundaries?
Sometimes I turn on the tv and I'm literally shocked at the content I see. Of course I remember shows like Mr. Ed and Dick Van Dyke. But really, how far have we come since then? And what is considered too far?
The media watchdog group called on lawmakers and law enforcement officials Thursday to open an investigation regarding possible child pornography and exploitation on the cable network's new series “Skins.”
The Parents Television Council called the show the “most dangerous program that has ever been foisted on your children.”
But aside from simply outraging parents, the network responsible for raunchy fare like “Jersey Shore” and “Teen Mom” may be in hot water with the legal system. Why? Unlike MTV’s envelope-pushing shows of the past, “Skins” features underage actors engaged in sexual situations. The youngest star of the show is only 15.
15? Really? And then we wonder why pregnancy numbers are so high at a younger and younger age. At 15 I was not watching tv shows with this kind of content, and I'm not really feeling like I missed out on anything. One thing I will say though is I would not allow my children to watch this.
