Two intersecting roadways along the Idaho / Montana border west of Missoula have gotten a reputation for being somewhat of a paranormal highway. Witnesses have reported "road ghosts" among other bizarre objects along a corridor once explored by Lewis and Clark.

Traveling down a mountainous roadway in the middle of the night can be a bit creepy, especially when you're alone. Animals, sleepy drivers, and weather can all make these evening commutes interesting. When we take road trips alone, our mind likes to play tricks on us from time to time. What we think we see can often be chalked up to fatigue.

The only way to determine if these sightings are fact or urban legend is to take a drive out to the area at night. Report back to us and let us know if you see anything strange.

Then, there are those times when evening travelers cross paths. Someone's car breaks down a few miles outside of town and they take to hitchhiking to get assistance quicker. There are plenty of spots in the mountains near Highways 90 and 93 where cell service is dicey at best. It's this area near the Lolo Pass where people have reported seeing figures in the nighttime who appear almost desperate for help.

Montana's Road Ghosts have been documented on multiple websites including distinctlymontana.com. There have been multiple claims of phantom trucks and nomadic apparitions appearing along Highway 93, which intersects Highway 90 near the community of Frenchtown, and near Lolo and Missoula. The claims remind me of the Haunted Mansion Hitchhiking Ghosts made famous by Disney.

The only way to determine if these sightings are fact or urban legend is to take a drive out to the area at night. Report back to us and let us know if you see anything strange.
