Do You Personally Know Someone Who Has Had COVID-19 [POLL]
I was talking with my wife over the weekend about the COVID-19 pandemic. We were discussing what we had seen over the weekend as we did an Easter drive around town. Lots of people walking around the park and streets and the majority not wearing masks. I'm guilty of not wearing a mask when I go out and that is one of the big things my wife and I discussed - why aren't we taking all the precautions we should? We realized it was probably due to the fact that neither of us actually knows someone who has, or currently has, COVID-19. The gravity of the pandemic hasn't personally hit us so we aren't as actively cautious as we should be.
I think that is probably the case for most people in Twin Falls and the Magic Valley. With only 73 cases of the coronavirus in Twin Falls and the first death from it happening less than two weeks ago, maybe it doesn't seem like a big deal yet to us? But it is a big deal and something we should all be more serious about. The pandemic has caused the closure of many businesses and the number of unemployment cases filed in Idaho over the last three weeks is around 80,000. More than 16 million Americans have lost jobs over the last few weeks. COVID-19 is now the leading cause of death in the United States according to the latest from MSM.
I personally don't want a person I know getting the virus to be the reason I start taking this pandemic seriously. I'd prefer to not know anyone who gets it and the best way for that to happen is doing my part to stay home and socially distance myself as much as possible.
