Doing This Will Make You The Enemy Of All Idaho Truck Drivers
For those who travel in their automobiles often for business or pleasure, sharing the road with truckers can be frustrating for some. Truck drivers also have to deal with a lot of stress and anger over the dumb things other motorists do, and these interactions can boil over into dangerous consequences.
I recently returned home from a long road trip. I consider a long road trip to be any amount of driving that totals more than 1,000 miles, which roughly equates to at least 20 hours behind the wheel from start to finish.
I witnessed an extremely dangerous interaction between a semi-truck driver and the driver of an auto parts truck while returning home Monday afternoon. The semi-driver was signaling to merge onto a two-lane highway and the parts truck driver accelerated and caused the rig operator to abruptly brake, which kicked up a great deal of dust and rock onto the highway. I was a few cars back and witnessed the near collision, which caused motorists traveling in the opposite direction towards us to swerve.
Truckers have every much a right to be on the road as the rest of us, and most of those grocery items, healthcare products, prescription drugs, auto parts, and other materials we head to the store or shop to buy when we need them wouldn't be in stock if it weren't for these road warriors.
I spent some time researching the types of road interactions that annoy the hell out of truck drivers. The majority of trucking threads I read named the habit of motorists not allowing truckers to merge onto roadways despite signaling for extended periods as the worst offense.
