TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Several slide-offs were reported this morning on Interstate 84, according to local dispatchers. But as of 2 p.m. there haven’t been many calls this afternoon.

Most of the accidents and slide-offs on the interstate occurred during the early-morning drive between mileposts 175 and 179, said a dispatcher from the Idaho State Police.

Snow plows have been out on the roads and “whatever it is they’re doing seems to be working,” the dispatcher said. “We haven’t had any calls for a while.”

A dispatcher at the Southern Idaho Regional Communications Center said there have been about 25 calls total for the counties SIRCOMM oversees.

Still, drivers should use caution when on the roads and highways. Winter weather is expected to continue through tonight and into the next couple of days.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory that will be in effect until 7 p.m. today for western Magic Valley, with some 2 to 5 inches of snowfall expected. Winds may develop late this afternoon, according to the NWS, and snow will change to rain at low elevations tonight. More snow and rain is expected Thursday.

The winter weather will cause “travel problems on area roads” and so “use caution while driving," the NWS says.
