TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) If you are headed to the local Department of Motor Vehicle in early November, you may encounter some delays with service.

The Idaho Department of Motor Vehicle announced plans for a new computer software upgrades beginning October 31 for parts of the Magic Valley, extending into November. ITD says customers will have longer wait times for about three to four weeks while staff implements the software and security procedures.

Some county offices will implement the changes during the weekend (see list below). The new installment will affect the systems for driver's licenses, identification cards and various permits.

“We ask our customers to have patience as we implement the software," said DMV Administer Alan Frew. "If your license, ID card or permit is not expiring soon, you may consider waiting until the end of November to renew. Please understand that county employees are working hard to serve customers as quickly as possible.”

Here is a list of days Magic Valley office will begin the changes:

  • Monday, Oct. 31 - Camas and Minidoka County offices will close from 8 am – noon
  • Tuesday, Nov. 1 -  Blaine and Cassia County offices will close from 8 am – noon
  • Wednesday, Nov. 2 - Lincoln and Jerome County offices will close from 8 am – noon
  • Thursday, Nov. 3 - Gooding County and Buhl (Twin Falls County) offices will close from 8 am – noon on Thursday, Nov. 3.
  • The main Twin Falls County office in Twin Falls will implement the update over the weekend.
