FILER, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) The City of Filer is looking into folding its police department. Filer currently has a staff of five full-time police officers and its Chief, along with eight reserve officers. The discussion started when Filer Mayor Rick Dunn asked Twin Falls Sheriff Tom Carter to give a presentation to council Tuesday evening. Sheriff Carter tells KMVT the sheriff's department would fully integrate into the community and there wouldn't be a police force anymore – should this resolution be adopted. As part of his discussion, Carter said it would be his goal to not let any members of the police department go, should they be absorbed. Police chief Tim Reeves was in attendance and says he hopes to keep the department intact.
