LOWMAN, Idaho (AP) — Residents of more than 125 homes in central Idaho have been told to make preparations for a potential evacuation due to expected hot and dry conditions that could cause a wildfire to expand.

Officials say the 111-squre-mile fire burning timber in rugged terrain on Sunday is expected to be active over the next several days with low humidity and temperatures in the 90s.

The Boise County sheriff has told residents of the small town of Lowman as well as those living east of Grimes Pass Road to be ready to leave if the fire advances. About 1,800 firefighters backed by nine helicopters and other aircraft are battling the blaze.

Another wildfire is burning about 14 miles northeast of Lowman. About 225 firefighters are fighting that 3-square-mile blaze.
