BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) – A Boise hospital released Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter Thursday following two surgeries and a subsequent infection.

Jon Hanian, spokesman for the governor’s office, made the announcement Friday in a news release.

Gov. Otter had two back surgeries within a week to treat a ruptured disk, with the first surgery on July 7. According to an article by the Associated Press on July 17, the governor remained in the hospital due to an infection related to the second surgery. The 75-year-old governor was treated at St. Alphonosus Regional Medical in Boise and conducted some state business from the hospital.

Hanian said the governor will continue to recover from home and continue some state business and work closely with staff.

No public meetings or events are scheduled in the coming weeks as the governor recuperates. He said the governor will be back to work at the state capitol as soon as possible.
