NetherRealm Studios celebrates Friday the 13th in the greatest of ways possible: Jason Voorhees is leaving Camp Crystal Lake and joining the roster of Mortal Kombat X.

In order to celebrate Friday the 13th, NetherRealm Studios has released a teaser trailer announcing that the unkillable, camp counselor-slaying butcher of Crystal Lake, Jason Voorhees, is being added to Mortal Kombat X as one of its Kombat Pack DLC characters. Jason makes an excellent addition to the roster, replacing the guest DLC character spot that Freddy Kruger had in MK9 (though we wish both Freddy and Jason were on this roster at the same time). While no gameplay was shown, we have a feeling Jason will be really strong, have a ton of defense and be kinda slow, which would be perfect. Nevertheless, we can't wait to see what his three fighting variations will be like.

As for the other three unknown Kombat Pack characters, last month, we reported that the Predator was rumored to be a downloadable content character for Mortal Kombat X. A recent issue of the Mortal Kombat X prequel comic suggests that the gunslinger, Erron Black, could be one of the newer characters to officially join the roster. Predator actor Carl Weathers has supposedly offered his likeness to be featured in Mortal Kombat X for including the original movie's character, Dillon. We're not sure why they'd include one of the Predator's victims in the game, but it's likely for its intro, prologue or one of his cutscenes (that's if the alien warrior is actually added to the game of course). We also have heard that the legendary comic writer, Todd McFarlane has been hopeful that his beloved Spawn character would be getting into MKX as well, noting that his studio has a special licensing arrangement made with Warner Bros. Interactive to use Spawn in a limited capacity for some of its games. Of course, both Spawn and the Predator would make excellent additions in the war for Earthrealm.

Mortal Kombat X will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on April 14. Unfortunately, High Voltage Software's Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 ports of MKX have been delayed to the Summer.

We can't wait to see Jason's Fatalities:
