Idaho Couple Arrested For Allegedly Abusing Six Week Old Baby

This story is disturbing and angering so be warned that you won't like what you read. An Idaho couple has been arrested after admitting to abusing a 6 week old baby girl to the point of hospitalization. James and Amanda Berry told detectives that they had experienced blackouts, times that they don't remember, due to stress and physical pain. During these blackouts the couple says they would injure the child but didn't know they were doing it at the time it was happening.

On July 22, 2019 they brought the baby to the hospital and staff alerted authorities about the injuries. Detectives, working with doctors, determined that along with fresh injuries the baby had multiple older bone fractures. An article on the Post Register lists the child's injuries included a broken leg, broken ribs, and two skull fractures. Head scans also revealed brain trauma. The baby was placed in a medically induced coma after multiple seizures happened at the hospital, according to KPVI. The child has since been placed in a foster home and the parents have been ordered to have no contact with anyone under the age of five.

A preliminary hearing for James and Amanda has been scheduled for October 16, 2019.
