Idaho Eagle Scout Catches 335 lb Halibut In Alaska
A 16-year-old from Franklin, ID named Jackson Hobbs caught a massive halibut weighing in at 335 lbs, making him the current leader in the Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby. If he wins, he'll have turned his $10 ticket into a $10,000 prize!

From The City of Homer's website:
The Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby is the longest running halibut competition with the largest total payout in Alaska.
Our ’’Release to Increase’’ catch & release program, conceived and sponsored by Coal Point Seafoods, is an effort to educate anglers about conservation of the halibut fishery. Release a halibut 48-inches or longer and be in a drawing from a monthly pool of entries to win $500, and end of season drawing for $1000!
Tickets are sold all over town so don’t go fishing without one! Every year someone catches a tagged fish - but did not purchase a Derby ticket. Don’t let that be you!
