The Idaho Supreme Court has dismissed a bid by state Republican Party Chairman Norm Semanko and House Speaker Lawerence Denney to boot two members from the redistricting commission. The justices ruled on Wednesday that Semanko and Denney failed to file a brief showing a clear right to the relief they sought. The Republican leaders wanted to remove Randy Hansen and Dolores Crow from the redistricting commission, in part because they didn’t think the pair had sufficiently helped GOP interests when they helped craft new legislative maps in October. The redistricting commission, including Hansen, a former Twin Falls legislator, and Crow, a former House member from Nampa, will reconvene on Thursday. Then, they’ll try to craft a plan that meets Supreme Court muster, after justices rejected previous legislative maps last week.
