Idaho’s Only Assassinated Politician Was Done Dirty By Friend
Records of political assassinations go back further than some people can imagine. One Idaho lawyer turned politician was killed by a good friend in a hail of bullets more than 150 years ago and the incident is regarded as the state's first and only recorded murder of its kind.
If you had to guess what the oldest recorded political assassination was, what ballpark timeframe would you throw out? I honestly had no idea that such records were kept and documented dating back not hundreds of years, but thousands.

If you were to google the topic, you'd find a wide range of dates and information from numerous historical sources. The one date that I came across in my research occurred more than 3,800 years ago and involved a Bronze Age (3300 B.C. to 1200 B.C.) prince whose body was discovered in 1877 in Germany, according to qz.com. I'm not exactly sure how these skeletal remains gave proof positive evidence of an assassination, but that's not my expertise. Maybe a sword wound to the back of the head?

The topic of political assassination is fresh in the minds of Americans presently due to three failed attempts on President Donald Trump in the last several months, and he was just elected to a second term Tuesday evening. A man named Edward Dexter Holbrook was a former lawyer, Mason, and Idaho Congressional delegate who was assassinated on June 18, 1870. He was shot dead after an argument with a longtime friend in Idaho City, according to rickjust.com.
