"Leave it as you found it," is a saying that many people think about when spending time in the great outdoors. It comes to my mind every time I'm packing up to head home from the mountains, but some campers aren't as considerate, and a lifestyle website recently named the top terrible habits Americans have during stays in nature.

I just got back from spending three nights in the mountains at an elevation of about 7,000 feet. We had the entire campground which consisted of 25 spaces to ourselves the last two nights we were there, so we didn't have to deal with any noisy, rude, obnoxious, or inconsiderate neighbors; it was glorious.

We usually camp in close proximity to public restrooms, so we avoid leaving toilet paper under rocks or logs, which is actually just littering if you think about it. The animals probably don't appreciate it either.

My biggest pet peeve when camping actually has to do with pets. When a dog roams freely into our site and decides to mix it up with our dog, it annoys the everloving hell out of me. Loud music doesn't even bother me that much.

Roaming pets did make the list of top rude habits campers have in a recent Reader's Digest story, but I doubt many Idahoans would find this to be the worst camping offense. There's nothing more pleasant than taking a hike and nearly stepping on someone's buried butt wipe. YouTube has some pretty humorous videos that deal solely with this subject.

Loud music, showing up too early and hurrying people out, setting up outside the campsite, and leaving food out all made this list too. We usually camp in close proximity to public restrooms, so we avoid leaving toilet paper under rocks or logs, which is actually just littering if you think about it. The animals probably don't appreciate it either.

What other poor Idaho camping habits would you include in this list if you could?
