Once you're married, you assume certain roles.  So is it the wife's job to buy all the birthday gifts for family members?

In my home, no.  My husband and I have an agreement, when it comes to birthday gifts he takes care of his side of the family and I take care of mine.  However, I'm stepping in on his mother's birthday.  She birthed him, she deserves a gift not just a card!

I've already decided that I'm getting his mother a birthday gift and writing both our names on it.  Period.  However, if I do this, I risk upsetting the balance of the gift's agreement my husband and I have.  What would you do?

Either way, take our poll: Is It the Wife's Job to Buy Birthday Gifts for the Family?
