If you haven't heard by now, on New Years Eve around 5 thousand birds died in and around Beebe Arkansas.  All at once.  And, as we love to say in radio- "Wait! There's more."

Here's  what caused it. That is, according to Arkansas Fish & Game

BEEBE - Results from preliminary testing released Wednesday by the U.S. Geological Survey's National Wildlife Health Center in Madison, Wis., show that red-winged blackbirds died from blunt force trauma on New Year's Eve. The report supports preliminary findings from the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission released Monday. Tests for an array of pesticides were negative; results are pending for additional chemical toxins and infectious diseases.

It appears unusually loud noises, reported shortly before the birds began to fall, caused the birds to flush from a roost. Additional fireworks in the area may have forced the birds to fly at a lower altitude than normal and hit houses, vehicles, trees and other objects. Blackbirds have poor night vision and typically do not fly at night.

The Washington Post called it "The Aflockalypse".  Now here's the kicker. 125 miles away 100,000 dead fish turn up along the Arkansas River. Then, a few days later, hundreds maybe thousands more dead birds in Kentucky, Louisiana and even over in Sweden! Then hundreds of thousands more fish. More birds. Even crickets! AHHHHHHH!

Coincidence? Certainly not to zealots and conspiracy theorists. But even the most level headed among us have to pause for a moment and go hmmmmm. Personally, I think it might be a precursor to 2012. But I'm pretty sure it's aliens.  If it's aliens, I hope it's not like "The Event" or "V" and they are demonstrating their power to our leaders. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be in my bunker.
