Researchers scanning the ground in Turkey underneath a large mound of dirt and rock that some think could be the remains of Noah's ark has captured the attention of many in Utah. This is because of the state's large religious population.

New Discoveries Deep Below: Scans Reveal Hidden Structures

Near Mount Ararat there is a hill of dirt that has the shape of a large ship. For years people have wanted to excavate the mound and see what is inside but the nation of Turkey has stopped any activity.

Recently, things have loosened up in the country and some researchers were able to scan the ground around and below the proposed ark. Those scans have shown that the dirt is different in the mound then surrounding it.

Faith and Curiosity: The Response from Utah

They also think they have found tunnel like structures inside. The reports of these findings have been followed closely by those who believe in the bible and the story of Noah. Some in Utah have begun to pay attention to what these researchers have found.

According to the Pew Research Center, Utah is the 6th most religious state in the U.S. All the states that are higher on the list are in the south with Mississippi listed as the most religious.

For now, Utahns are just curious about what is being found. Should the Turkish government allow an archeological dig at the site, it might inspire a desire to participate in a more hands on way.
