If you have to deal with a food allergy, you're fully aware of how difficult it can be to find a place that caters to that allergy - it can be a minefield. What might be a delicious treat for some can spell disaster for others.

Speaking of delicious treats...

For some of us, going out to eat is a treat and when you want to enjoy something delicious on the go, you might hit up the local Chick-fil-A. And why shouldn't you? Their waffle fries were probably (but not likely) invented by the ancient Mayans before they went to space, they have lemonade that is so good you'll slap your mama, and of course, everything their employees do for you pleases them.

Unfortunately, Chick-fil-A is being forced to warn its customers about the dangers of one of its most popular condiments: Polynesian dipping sauce.

If you've never had Polynesian sauce, Chik-fil-A describes it on their site as "a delicious sweet and sour sauce with a strong, tangy flavor."

Unfortunately, some customers might be getting more than some "strong, tangy flavors."

According to a report from Today, Chick-fil-A is warning customers that "the Polynesian dipping cups may contain a different sauce that includes wheat and soy allergens."

Food allergies are more common than you might think, affecting millions worldwide.

And these allergies aren't going to give you a case of sniffles and sneezes; food allergies can have severe consequences including anaphylaxis which is a potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. It can lead to difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness, and even death according to the Mayo Clinic.

Is all Polynesian sauce affected?

The good news is that not all of their Polynesian sauce was affected but rather, the Polynesian dipping cups that customers took home (and kept, because who doesn't store a few extra?) between February 14th and 27th.

Check your fridge or wherever else you might store your dipping sauces and throw them out! It's better to be safe than sorry.

If you have any questions or concerns, Chick-fil-A says you can call them at Chick-fil-A CARES at 1 (866)-232-2040.
