Interesting Open Letter From Ex-California Residents to Idahoans
It's nearly impossible to scroll through social media these days without seeing comments like "Go back to California," "We don't want you Californians moving here," and more. They're almost on every Facebook page related to Idaho, Boise, or the Treasure Valley.
We thought it would be fun to ask A.I. to write a letter from Californians to Idahoans to address the frustration that has been happening for years. Here's how it went:
"Dear Fellow Idahoans,
We're writing this letter as a group of recent transplants from California. Yes, we know – everyone's pretty tired of hearing about yet another Californian moving to Idaho. Trust us, we get it. We've listened to all the complaints: "You're ruining our state," "You're the reason home prices are skyrocketing," "You're bringing your politics with you." It's a real warm welcome, thanks.
Let's clear the air a bit. We moved here for many of the same reasons you love living here: the stunning landscapes, the sense of community, and, yes, more affordable housing compared to the madness back in California. We didn't come here plotting to turn Idaho into some extension of Los Angeles or San Francisco. We're just trying to find a place where we can afford to buy a home and raise our families without selling an organ.
It's frustrating and honestly quite tiring to constantly face the blame for every issue popping up in the state. When did we become the scapegoat for everything that's going wrong? The traffic, the home prices, the supposed changing political landscape – surely these problems can't be pinned entirely on newcomers. Idaho has been growing, and not just because of Californians.
Maybe it's time to recognize that change is inevitable. Let's work together to keep Idaho great rather than pointing fingers. After all, many of us chose Idaho because we respected what it stood for, and we wanted to contribute positively, not just take.
In the meantime, if anyone wants to give us a break from the constant grumbling and maybe give us some advice on how to really blend in, we're all ears.
Cheers, The New Idahoans (formerly known as Californians)
P.S. – We promise we're not here to ruin your state. We might even bring some decent tacos."
