Boise Police Now Using Drones To “Enhance Safety”
The police exist to keep us safe. Sometimes, that means using cutting edge technology to prevent bad things from happening to law-abiding citizens.
Or, at least, that's what they're telling us. However, we have several questions.
Boise Police are using drones now? What if I'm naked in my backyard?
First of all, good for you. Way to exude confidence. Totally here for it.
However, Boise Police insist they're only using drones during a crime. Lt. Russ Mengel of the Boise Police Department elaborates:
We're out there for a specific reason and like with our body worn cameras we only activate the record feature when there's criminal conduct that we need to capture. So again they're not just out there flying around capturing everything going on. It's with a specific purpose.
By the way, said drones even have thermographic cameras and speaker systems installed, so ain't no way they're not spotting you nude sunbathing in your backyard.
Hopefully, these drones stay within their jurisdiction and aren't caught spying on innocent Boisians simply trying to enjoy some time in the nude.

Sometimes, drones can actually be extremely useful. Do you remember that terrible lightning storm in Boise just a few years ago? If you've never seen the images captured via drone, they're absolutely worth a look:

This one's actually cute. Some aerial photos taken (again, via drone) of Christmas tree farms over the holidays.
Now we're just waiting for someone to use this as an opening to their upcoming Hallmark holiday film!
