March Madness is underway and everywhere you go, you're sure to see a television playing one of the many games taking place for both college men and women teams looking to win and advance.

Gonzaga coach Mark Few calls it 'the greatest sporting event on earth' and once you see how 'into it' folks get--even those that aren't sports fans--it's tough to argue his stance.

In Idaho, Boise State gets all of the banter come basketball season (whether it's good or bad) and this year, the Broncos weren't even in the conversation for March Madness. They will need to re-frame and re-load if they hope to be relevant in the new Pac-12 coming this Fall.

An unlikely 'cinderella' emerged here in Idaho--our own Idaho Vandals DID make the big dance.

The Vandals played 7 games in 13 days ahead of March Madness, cruising through their Big Sky Conference tournament in Boise and earning the conference's guaranteed spot in the bracket.

Paired up against the University of Houston--one of America's favorites to win it all this year--the Vandals were big time underdogs. While they hung on early in the game, Houston eventually separated and won....big.

Pride and gratitude are two things that players and coaching staff expressed after the game. The program was happy to be there, to put themselves on the map, and to set a foundation for what is to come next year.

Head Coach of Houston, Kelvin Sampson, is one of the best in the league. Sampson was in Pullman early in his career and had great things to say about the University of Idaho to the national media, which was awesome:

Boise State's Most Underappreciated Star

Boise State seems to mean "football" for most, right? On a national stage, after all, it's the blue turf and the success that the Broncos have had on it that made the university a household name. What happens on the hardwood, however, is far from appreciated at the level that it should be. Leon Rice came to Boise State as a blessing from one of the most powerful basketball programs in the nation: Gonzaga University. Now, the winningest basketball coach in the history of the school seems to take immediate heat if the Broncos aren't in the Final Four. Spoiled by wins on the football field, fans seem to expect the same of the basketball program but when the investment in basketball is so much less than football--can you really have these types of expectations!?
