When one thinks of Idaho, there are probably a few words and phrases that come to mind:

  • Scenic views
  • Potatoes
  • Outdoor activities

Notice we didn't add "diversity" to the list. The reason? Oh boy. There's a reason, all right.

Wait, so is Idaho actually the whitest state in the country?

Well, no, actually. But, it's really, really close.

According to recent demographic info, it turns out Idaho's population is almost 93% Caucasian. You read that right. That means nearly every person who lives in Idaho is most likely going to be white.

Only Maine, Vermont, West Virginia, and New Hampshire are more whiterer (?) than Idaho, and there's only a 1% different between the top five states.

So, facts do be facts. Next time someone wants to brag to you about the diversity in Idaho, let's remind them that we have a long, long way to go.
