Update and photo recap:

You can see a recap and photo gallery of the Magic Valley 911 Memorial event here.

Thanks to the hard work of some very dedicated Twin Falls area citizens, the 2023 Magic Valley  911 Memorial Event is returning to Twin Falls, along with a preview of the massive American flag before it's set to span the Snake River Canyon.

An awe-inspiring event with humble beginnings

A family event where "all could stand on the Perrine Bridge... and join together in a display of patriotism", has quickly become one of the Twin Falls Area's most heartwarming and awe-inspiring events. The annual 911 Memorial event is set to offer up another year of food, fellowship, honor, and remembrance for the fallen heroes of the 911 tragedy.

Magic Valley 911 Memorial schedule of events

The Magic Valley 911 Memorial event will take place over several days, with the bulk of the activities happening just before and on September 11, 2023.

Friday, September 8, 2023 - Flag sneak peek

Seeing a giant 11,700 square-foot flag majestically draped across the Snake River Canyon is debatably the highlight of the event, and certainly the most visually stunning. The 911 Memorial Event is hosting a sneak peek of the flag at the Kimberly High School Football home game on Friday, September 8, 2023. A community dinner at 5:00 p.m. will precede the sneak peek, with a suggested donation of $5 per person or $20 per family. Proceeds from the dinner will go towards the purchase of a giant flag for use at future events. (Keep reading. More about that below).

Parking is available either in the shops over by Best Buy or west of Blue Lakes at Pet Smart and Dick's Sporting Goods. The Magic Valley Mall parking by the old Shopko can be used for overflow parking as well.  It's a close walk to the visitors center from either lot. Accessible parking will be available at the event and those are expected to fill up very fast. If you need assistance, you can park in either of the parking areas, and volunteer-driven carts will shuttle you to and from the main event.

Along with a beautiful view of the 11,000 + square foot flag, the event will feature an Air Force flyover, a 21-gun salute, a band, and food vendors. Families are encouraged to attend as we come together as a community, remember those who have fallen, and spread patriotism with our fellow Americans.

The flag will continue to span the canyon for several days following the event in honor of the various public service branches.

More event details are available at the Magic Valley 911 Memorial website

911 Memorial Flag Fundraiser

The giant flag that spans the Snake River Canyon is rented. The 911 Memorial Committee is raising funds with the goal of purchasing an 11,700-square-foot flag for the annual event. The committee is hoping to raise around $75,000 to make this happen. You can find more information about the fundraiser and donate at the Magic Valley 911 Memorial website.

Special thanks to the tireless efforts of event founders Angela Johnson, Larae Saufley, and their families for creating and organizing this wonderful community event.
