7 Events Happening this Holiday Weekend in the Magic Valley
Thanksgiving weekend is finally here and many will be traveling and have plans with their friends and family already, but others will have friends and family coming to the Magic Valley and be looking for things to do and ways to entertain them this weekend. While eating and family time should be the priority, after Thursday, what do you do to get out of the house and have some fun? There are multiple events this weekend and plenty to take your friends and family to or to get out of the house away from everyone. Here are some of the events taking place in the Magic Valley this weekend.
Thursday, November 24 - Thanksgiving
Before you begin attending events, make sure to take time to enjoy a proper Thanksgiving, whatever that looks like for you. Reflect on what you are thankful for this year, and enjoy some delicious food with your friends, your family, or perhaps just you and your pets. Kick back and enjoy some football, a Thanksgiving movie, a nap, or whatever you decide to do. Enjoy the day and forget about work and the stresses for one day. Happy Thanksgiving.
Thursday, November 24 - CSI Turkey Trot
Before you settle down and eat your weight in food on Thanksgiving, perhaps you'd like to go for a pre-meal run. The annual CSI Turkey Trot is taking place on Thanksgiving morning, and it is a great way to start the day before stuffing yourself full of stuffing. You can register online and admission is $25 for adults if you register in advance or $90 for a family of four. You can even register your pet for $10. Every preregistered racer will get a t-shirt, and pets will get a bandana while supplies last. If you find a turkey on the trail, it is yours to keep or do with as you please. Friday, November 25 & Saturday, November 26 - HWY 93 Indoor Vendor Sale
Many are most excited for this weekend because of the shopping that follows the Thanksgiving day and holiday, but before you rush off to the major stores for Black Friday deals, make sure to stop by the Highway 93 Indoor Vendor Sale in Jerome. The sale is located at 392 E 300 S in Jerome and will take place from 11 AM until 6 PM on Friday and 9 AM until 3 PM on Saturday. Admission is free and you will be able to find tons of goodies such as pies, cookies, jewelry, antiques, handcrafted items, and much more. Stop by and start your holiday shopping off right.
Friday, November 25 & Saturday, November 26 - CSI Men's and Women's Basketball
The CSI men's and women's basketball teams are once again in action at home this weekend, and you do not want to miss these two red-hot teams. The Men's team is currently undefeated at 8-0, while the women's team is 6-1. Both teams are home on Friday and Saturday, with the women tipping off at 5 PM on Friday to take on Wenatchee Valley College, followed by the men taking on Dawson Community College at 7 PM. The women will again start the action off on Saturday at 5 PM by taking on Treasure Valley Community College, with the men again following them by playing McCook Community College at 7 PM. Tickets are still available for all four games.
Friday, November 25 - Rupert Christmas Festival
Rupert is known as Christmas City, USA, and for good reason. They do Christmas in style and do it about as well or better than anyone around. This weekend will kick off their Christmas Festival and it all begins with their Christmas City Square Lighting and Chili Feed from 5 PM until 9 PM on Friday. Santa will be there to light the Christmas tree and there will be food and of course fireworks to end the night. If you want to see the tree lit, Santa will show up to do so around 7 PM. The Christmas Market will be open this Friday and Saturday as well, being open from 5 PM until 9 PM on Friday and 12 PM until 9 PM on Saturday. Click the link above to see all the festivities taking place coming up.
Friday, November 25 - Christmas in the Night Time Sky
Christmas in the Night Time Sky is back once again, and unofficially kicks off the start of the holiday season in Twin Falls. The event is at Kimberly Nurseries and buses begin running at 5 PM from Lighthouse. There will be live music, bonfires, food, and admission to the event is an unused unwrapped toy, as all processed go towards Toys for Tots. The night will conclude with a firework show synced to music, which will begin around 7:30. For many families, this event is a tradition to attend, but if you have never gone, the weather is looking good as of now, so make this the year you enjoy Christmas in the Night Time Sky.
Saturday, November 26 - Wilson Youth Symphony Concert
If you would like to enjoy a night indoors, listening to some live music, look no further than the Wilson Youth Symphony concert taking place this Saturday in Rupert at the Historic Wilson Theatre. The concert begins at 7:30 PM and admission is donation based. Concessions will be open for sale. If you are in the area, head out and listen to these talented kids share their gifts with everyone.
The holidays are finally here and it is time to eat. Enjoy time with your friends and family and have some good food this weekend. Once that is over, enjoy some shopping and great deals, and perhaps decorate for Christmas if you haven't already. As the events above show, it is time to get into the holiday spirit, so get out this weekend and enjoy all that the Magic Valley has to offer. Be safe, have fun, and have a Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels this weekend if you are traveling.
