This Specific Crime is in on the Rise in the Gem State
Spring is fast approaching, and there has been a tease of nice days, and soon they will all be nice moving forward. As winter fades into the past, more and more people will get outside daily. With the longer days and warmer weather, residents in Idaho will begin biking more, hiking, walking, running, fishing, and being outdoors. Not only will residents be outdoors taking advantage of the nice weather to have fun, but there will also be those that emerge to take advantage of the nicer conditions to be out at night, doing activities that they shouldn't. Every spring, crime rises, and there is one particular crime to keep an eye out for this spring in the Gem State.
Crime on the Rise in Idaho
When winter rolls around, many residents in Idaho gather fire food, get their winter clothes out, and prepare to not spend much time outside. Not only do they not want to be cold, but thieves and criminals don't want to be as well, as crime rates decrease slightly. Once spring rolls around, crime rates increase, as many people decide to be out more to take advantage of the weather. There is more theft, break-ins, and crimes taking place all over the Gem State. One crime in particular that officers are seeing more and more of is vehicle burglaries. With so many cameras on homes, street lights, phones, and everywhere in town, there are many videos of criminals attempting to break into cars this time of year in the Magic Valley and all across Idaho.
Car Theft and Break-Ins in Idaho
With crimes like these on the rise, there are simple ways to help prevent from being a target. First, make sure all your security cameras are working, and if you don't have any, it is wise to invest in some. Get them for around your home, and a doorbell camera. Get a flood/sensor light for your driveway, to keep it lit if someone does approach. Make sure to lock your cars, as many of these thieves are looking to open your door to snatch and go, and not looking to break your window and cause damage. The most important thing to remember is not to leave anything valuable in your car. If you don't have anything worth taking of value, then your vehicle likely isn't worth their time.

Be safe and take precautions this spring as thieves and criminals emerge from their winter slumber. If you see someone attempting any crime, especially breaking into vehicles, report them immediately. Take caution this spring and make sure to invest in cameras and security of some sort to protect your cars and possessions.
