Another Life Lost on Idaho Highway in Tragic Accident
Fatal Crash on State Highway-55 in Valley County
DONNELLY, Idaho – Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that took place on September 10, 2024, at 1:02 p.m. The incident occurred on the southbound lanes of State Highway-55, near milepost 127, just south of Donnelly.
Details of the Crash
The crash involved a 30-year-old man from Cascade driving a white Chevrolet Venture and a 40-year-old man from Nampa driving a Peterbilt semi-truck pulling a gray trailer. The Chevrolet Venture crossed into the northbound lanes, resulting in a head-on collision with the semi-truck. The Chevrolet overturned and came to rest on the west side of the highway, while the Peterbilt stopped on the east shoulder.
Fatality and Injuries
Tragically, the driver of the Chevrolet succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the Peterbilt semi-truck was unharmed.
Traffic Impact and Response
The crash blocked the roadway for 4 hours and 28 minutes. The Idaho Transportation Department assisted with traffic control, and multiple agencies, including the Valley County Sheriff’s Office, Donnelly Fire, and Emergency Medical Services, responded to the scene. This accident remains under investigation.
