There are many different cultures in this country. There are different races, religions, and backgrounds, and it all makes up for an extremely diverse country. It is one of the things that makes the United States so great, but when it comes to diversity, certain states seem to be more diverse than others. Many factors can cause one state to have more diversity than others, but which state is the most diverse, which is the least, and how diverse is Idaho compared to them all?

The Most and Least Diverse States

When it comes to being diverse, the more people, typically the more diverse the state. WalletHub recently ranked the states from most diverse to least diverse and used several categories to do so, such as socioeconomic diversity, cultural diversity, economic diversity, household diversity, religious diversity, and political diversity. Using these categories, it was determined that California is the most diverse state, with Texas being second, and Hawaii surprisingly coming in third. The least diverse state in the country is West Virginia, with Maine being the second least diverse, and New Hampshire rounding out the bottom three.

It should be no surprise that Idaho is in the bottom half for most diverse states. Idaho comes in on the list at 34. Idaho is 35 in both socioeconomic diversity and cultural diversity, 7 in economic diversity and religious diversity, and 49 in household diversity and political diversity. The Gem State is the most diverse state when it comes to industry diversity, but is the second lowest in marital-status diversity.
