8 Events to Have Fun at This August Weekend in the Magic Valley

For some in the Magic Valley, school started this week and while most schools didn't go the whole week, a weekend is already being anticipated by many kids in the area. For others, this is the final weekend of summer, as next week the days of sleeping in will be over, and early mornings and long days at school will begin once again. While children are moaning about being back in school or dreading the start, adults are feeling it as well, with more traffic out, new schedules, and adjusting to new routines for everyone. No matter, the best way to forget the past week or to avoid thinking about the next is to get out and have some fun this weekend. Thursday, August 15 Through Saturday, August 17 - Gooding County Fair

It is fair season in Idaho, which means there are fairs taking place every week, and this time around Gooding is having its fair. This weekend marks your chance to get out and enjoy the rodeo and some food as you take in the fair. There isn't just one, but two county fairs taking place this weekend. If you want to be greedy, check them both out. Friday, August 16, and Saturday, August 17 - Joe Mama's Car Show

Many car lovers in the Magic Valley and surrounding areas have been waiting, and the 26th annual Joe Mama's Car Show is finally back this weekend. It all starts on Friday at Con Paulos Chevrolet where the cars will then cruise to Twin Falls City Park for a burnout, taco eating contest, and more. Friday, August 16, and Saturday, August 17 - 'The Importance of Being Earnest'

The temperatures are expected to rise one more time this summer, and because of the heat, perhaps you want to stay indoors and enjoy a show in a nice cool theatre. 'The Importance of Being Earnest' will be performed this Friday and Saturday at the Orpheum Theatre, and the classic comedy will have you laughing all through the show. Saturday, August 17 - Hidden Creek Outdoor Market

Sometimes you just need to get out and shop to relax, to enjoy your day, and to see what great deals you might be missing out on. This weekend offers a unique shopping experience as the Hidden Creek Outdoor Market will be taking place this Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM at Whiskey Creek Saloon and Grill at 1749 Kimberly Road. Saturday, August 17 - Movie Matinee

Saturday, August 17 - Eve of Destruction 2

For those looking for some excitement to enjoy this weekend, make sure to head out to the Magic Valley Speedway this Saturday for Eve of Destruction 2. Tickets are still available and the gates open at 5 PM, with the action starting at 6:30 PM. There will be boat races, sprint cars, street stocks, hornets, and more. Sunday, August 18 - Hagerman Farmer's Market

With summer ending soon, the weekends of farmer's markets are limited, so don't wait and get out while you still can. The Hagerman Farmers Market is worth the trip. The drive out there is beautiful and they have everything you need and want. They have art, crafts, live music, food, clothing, and much more.
