6 Events Happening the First Weekend of Spring in Idaho
Spring officially began this week, and spring break has been happening for most of the Magic Valley this past week. As the week off winds down, there won't be as many events this weekend, but there is still enough to get out of the house and still enjoy those final few days of the break. The weather might be a little chilly this weekend, but that doesn't mean you should stay inside unless you are resting from a trip this past week. For those looking for something to do this weekend, here are some of the events taking place in the Magic Valley.
Thursday, March 23, and Friday, March 24 - Spring Break Mini Classes
With the kiddos out of school this week, you may be looking for a way to get them out of the house. Perhaps a morning trip to Rupert would help, by attending the 4-H Spring Break Mini Classes. You do not have to be a member of 4-H to participate, but you will need to register on-site. Classes are only $10 and are for children aged 8 to 13. They can take all eight classes or any number they choose. Classes offered include survival, cats, wildlife, bicycle rodeo, candy making, food science, gardening, and pom-pom gnomes. Classes begin at 10 AM on Thursday and Friday and go until 3 PM. For more details, make sure to click the link above.
Friday, March 24 - Dessert Parfaits
Getting the kids out of the house is a must, especially as spring break gets closer to the end. One way to do so is to take them to a fun and delicious activity that they will enjoy. At Rudy's on Main Street in Twin Falls this Friday, Ryan from Crumbs will be teaching little chefs how to make a dessert parfait. The event is $30 and is from 9 AM to 10 AM. It may be a little early for dessert, but it will be worth it. The kids will learn to make something sweet and learn proper cooking habits as well. Click the link above for more details.
Thursday, March 23 Through Saturday, March 25 - Serengeti
The Herrett Center offers a variety of things for everyone, and this weekend they will be showing 'Serengeti: A Journey to the Heart of Africa,' on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. There are showings at 3:30 PM all three days, with a showing at 8 PM on Friday as well. The show lasts an hour and is educational, as well as entertaining. Learn about this unique environment and its creatures, and how the Serengeti came to be. To watch a trailer be sure to click the first link above, and for more on the show click the second link.
Friday, March 24 - Chris Janson Concert
End your week with a nice drive to Fort Hall and hit the slots a bit, enjoy a nice meal, and have a fun night listening and dancing to one of country music's fastest-rising stars, Chris Janson. The concert starts at 8 PM and is taking place at the Shoshone-Bannock Hotel and Casino. Make a weekend out of it and book a room so you can have some fun and not worry about driving back late after the concert. For more details on the show, make sure to click the link above.
Saturday, March 25 - Ice Cream with the Easter Bunny
Easter may still be a few weeks away, but it is never too soon to get out and enjoy some ice cream and an Easter egg hunt with the Easter Bunny. Ice Cream with the Easter Bunny is back this year in Rupert and will be taking place this Saturday at 11 AM at Rupert City Square. There will be raffles where some lucky child will win a bike, as well as ice cream and a chance to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. For more details on the event, make sure to click the link above.
Saturday, March 25 - Movie Matinee at the Public Library
The Twin Falls Public Library is always putting on events and offering something fun for the public. Every Saturday they offer a free movie matinee from 3 PM to 5 PM and this week is no different. This a great way to get out of the house and do something fun for free. Kids don't care if you spend money at the movie theater or go free to the library, they just want to watch a movie and get out of the house. Click the link above to see the full calendar at the Twin Falls Public Library and stop by to get a list of the movies coming up soon.
While there may not be a ton of events this weekend, there is still enough to get out and have some fun, especially with the little ones. Get out and enjoy a concert, enjoy a movie, learn about the Serengeti, eat some ice cream and do an Easter egg hunt, learn to make dessert, or take your kids to some fun classes. Whatever you decide to do this weekend, have fun, be safe, and enjoy your weekend.
