Fatality Crash on I-84 in Meridian on Wednesday
Idaho State Police released a report about a fatality crash on Westbound I-84 at exit 44 in Meridian. Traffic was blocked for approximately 5 hours in order to facilitate emergency responders assisting the persons involved and clearing the scene.
ISP is currently investigating an accident that occurred on Wednesday, October 25th, just before 8 PM. On Westbound I-84 a woman from Marsing driving a 2015 Toyota Highlander collided with a pedestrian crossing the lanes. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The pedestrian has not as yet been identified by the Ada County coroner.
This fatality follows several others that ISP has responded to this month. On October 24th, 2 separate fatality accidents occurred. At 3:30 PM, a flatbed trailer of lumber rolled and ejected the driver who was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver succumbed to his injuries on the scene and the off-ramp was closed for 12 hours. North of Harrison at 2:50 PM, a female driver who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from her 2001 Toyota 4Runner and was pronounced dead on the scene.
How Many Fatality Accidents Have There Been On Idaho Roads This Year?
There were at least 92 fatalities during the 100 Deadliest Days on Idaho roads. That is the period of time from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Before the 100 Deadliest Days, there were at least 37 fatality crashes. There have been at least 15 fatality crashes that Idaho State Police have responded to in October and at least 11 since Labor Day in September.
Drivers are reminded to use seatbelts. They can be the biggest difference between an unfortunate accident and a tragic fatality.
