Idaho Transportation Department Seeks Feedback on Investment Plan

What starts with an F, and ends in a G, and everyone likes to complain about it when it's too late? If you guessed 'funding' you would be correct. Do you know how we like to complain about road construction in Idaho, how our tax dollars are being spent, and how nobody has asked our opinion?  Well, here’s your chance to weigh in on all of that before the final decisions are made.

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) has released a draft of the Idaho Transportation Investment Program (ITIP) and is asking for public feedback. This plan outlines the state's transportation priorities and guides investment decisions for the next seven years, through 2031. Public comments are welcomed through July 31.

With that in mind, this is your opportunity to raise concerns about any of the upcoming projects, or make ITD aware of any issues that are being overlooked.

Overview of Planned Projects

The draft ITIP includes a range of transportation projects, from major interstate upgrades to smaller projects like installing new guardrails. Projects span across Idaho’s 44 counties and cover all modes of transportation. The selection process uses technical data and input from local officials and residents.

Next Steps

After approval by the Idaho Transportation Board in September, the ITIP will be submitted to the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Transit Administration, and the Environmental Protection Agency in October. Public input is crucial to ensure the ITIP addresses the prioritized needs of Idaho's communities. ITD wants your input. You should take advantage of it.
