Growing up many children are told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gives you the energy to get through the day, puts you in a better mood to start the day, and often is some of the best food you eat every day. While most people think of the delicious part of breakfast when they think of the meal and prefer bacon, eggs, pancakes, and other tasty food, sometimes there isn't time for that. A piece of toast on the go is common, perhaps a bagel, or even a bar of some sort. One meal that many go to for breakfast since it doesn't take long to make and is yummy is cereal. There are many cereals to choose from, but when it comes to the best, what do residents in Idaho prefer? The answer might surprise you.

When it comes to eating cereal there is a wide variety of choices. You can go with chocolate, cinnamon, fruity, healthy, marshmallows, and much more. It can be a tough choice, and often in a household with multiple mouths, everyone wants something different. There are certain brands that many think of when they hear the word 'cereal' but the most common one in the Gem State is likely surprising to many. According to a recent study by Vegasinsider.com, the most popular cereal in the United States is Cheerios, and it isn't even close. The second-ranked cereal is Lucky Charms, which many claim to be their favorite, followed by Cinnamon Toast Crunch at three, which typically is a popular brand as well.

It may come as a surprise to many that most of America prefers a healthier brand of cereal, and more bland. Notice that the study mentions Cheerios, but not Honey Nut Cheerios, which typically most say they prefer. If you look deeper into the study though, it mentions Cheerios having 15 different flavors, putting them all into one category, which may help it be number one. Rounding out the top five on the list is Fruity Pebbles at number four, and Frosted Flakes at number five. The study lists the top twelve of America's favorite cereals, leaving many off the list that people prefer. While the list mentioned above shows America's favorite cereals, what is Idaho's? According to a list on Newsweek.com, that ranks each state's favorite cereal, Captain Crunch takes the crown in the Gem State, despite being ranked twelfth on America's list.
