We all need to use the mail. You use it to send packages to friends and family during the holidays, to receive packages you order online, and to receive bills that you likely don't want to receive. It can be extremely useful to send things to others far away, but it can also be a nightmare as well to deal with the Postal Service. Packages and mail can often get lost, be delayed, or never arrive at their destination. One major negative about the Postal Service is the cost of stamps and sending packages, and the costs are about to increase in Idaho, Washington, and Utah.

How much did it cost the last you sent something through the Postal Service? For those unaware the current prices are 73 cents for a letter that is one ounce, 69 cents for a letter less than one ounce, 56 cents for a domestic postcard, $1.65 for an international postcard, and $1.65 for an international letter. While those prices may not seem bad, they are a decent amount higher than they used to be, and all of those prices are soon going up more.

Price changes will be occurring later this month, as they will increase by 7.4 percent on July 13, or a 5-cent increase, depending on how you want to view it. A letter that is one ounce will now be 78 cents, a letter less than one ounce will be 74 cents, 61 cents for a domestic postcard, and $1.70 for an international postcard or letter. The good news is that these still remain among the best Postal Service prices in the entire world when compared to other countries.

To be clear, these prices are for forever stamps, so if you still have one worth 73 cents, you can use them until they are gone.  For more on the price changes and everything else changing with the Postal Service shortly, make sure to click on the link in the second paragraph above.
