4 Things to be Mindful of as School Starts Up in the Magic Valley

The summer feels like it began only days ago, but summer break is winding down, and school will soon be starting up again. The heat of summer will remain, but the days of freedom and kids running wild all day will be coming to an end. For some, this is great news and for others, this is a tragic time. With school starting again soon, some things need to be adjusted, not only for the students, but also for the parents, and the residents around Twin Falls and all of the Magic Valley. In case you forgot, here are some things to be mindful of as school starts up in the coming week.

Beware of Kids in Twin Falls

The first thing to be mindful of is the children. Kids will be crossing at crosswalks, driving in the morning and the afternoon to and from school, and walking to school as well. These kids have likely been asleep when you have been going to work the last few months and have been inside or in a pool or lake when coming home. Beware of the kids and make sure to be alert when driving around the times that children are going to school and going home.

School Zones Are Active in the Magic Valley

As mentioned here, the school zone is once again flashing, even though school hasn't started yet. Let this serve as a reminder that they will be active going forward and drive safely and slow down when approaching them. Especially be mindful going through these areas, because kids can often jump in front of a car at the last moment, so it is smart to be alert and even go slower than the desired speed limit through these areas. If you don't slow down, you will likely find yourself paying a hefty fine.

School Buses in the Magic Valley

While being cautious through school zones, the same needs to be said for when passing school buses as well. When the stop sign is out, you are not allowed to pass, and tickets will be issued if you go around while the lights are flashing and the sign is out. Do not tailgate buses, and be mindful of children that have gotten off the bus, because kids often aren't paying attention.

When Does School Start in Twin Falls?

If you are a parent of a child going to school, let this also serve as a reminder to not forget to take them to school and to also pick them up once you drop them off. As hard as it is for children to get into the school routine again, it is just as hard for parents. Make sure to get them to bed on time and up in time to get ready so they can show up on time.
