Scams are constantly happening. California is one of the biggest areas where many of these scams occur. Everyone is looking to make extra money, and looking for a quick way to get it to afford the expensive lifestyle that California demands. There are many types of scams to keep an eye out on. Many are done through email and phone calls, while others are done in person, or without you knowing. While most scams in California look to damage you financially, some scams can harm you physically and potentially could lead to death.

Planned Accidents in California

Planned accidents are nothing new, but thanks to technology they have become more known. The scam of planned accidents has been happening for a while and is one of the more dangerous scams out there. As seen in the video above, a vehicle will cut someone off and slam their brakes, hoping you will rear-end them. If that doesn't work, as seen above, they will stop and go back into the vehicle they cut off, making it look like they were rear-ended. This is a dangerous scam, as the vehicle being cut off could swerve and flip their car, could be severely injured from hitting the back of a vehicle, or could lead to death, depending on how things play out after being cut off. This is all done so someone can attempt to commit insurance fraud, by forcing an accident.

Insurance Fraud in California

Insurance fraud comes in all shapes and sizes, and California sees an average of $15 billion totaled each year. If caught committing insurance fraud in the Golden State, the crime is up to five years in prison, a $50,000 fine, or both. The video above shows the extent to which people will go to commit insurance fraud. Technology though has ruined some of these plans, as you can see in the video above this paragraph the man notices the camera, and his facial expression reveals that he knows he has been caught. Trying to scam others is wrong, but risking their life is taking it too far. To find out more on insurance fraud in California, make sure to click the link in this paragraph.

Be careful on the roads, as you never know when a car may swerve in front of you and slam on their brakes, hoping for you to hit them. If they stop and start to reverse towards your car, like seen above, pull out your phone and record. Make sure to call the police immediately and get to a safe place or stay in your car. They often target women driving alone, and it happens in more populated areas, where wrecks are more likely to occur. Be safe and report any behavior similar to this that you witness.
