Fatal Encounter on Idaho Roads

According to Idaho State Police, at approximately 12:03 p.m. on January 4th, 2024, a grave road incident unfolded on State Highway 75 in Lincoln County, Idaho, involving two vehicles. The collision, which has since sparked an investigation by the Idaho State Police, tragically resulted in one fatality and left another individual hospitalized.

Details of the Collision

The incident occurred when a 59-year-old male from Ketchum, driving a 2005 GMC Sierra southbound on State Highway 75, veered across the center lane. This sudden maneuver led to a collision with a northbound 2015 Toyota Sienna. The Toyota was operated by a 68-year-old male resident of Hailey. Authorities confirmed that both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Aftermath and Response

Following the collision, the driver of the GMC Sierra was quickly transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance. Tragically, the driver of the Toyota Sienna succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The northbound section of the highway was closed for approximately three hours. This closure allowed emergency responders to attend to the victims and commence preliminary investigations.

The Idaho State Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic event. As of now, details about the cause of the collision or any contributing factors have not been disclosed.
