Single Vehicle Fatal Crash on SH58 in Kootenai County
According to a press release from the Idaho State Police, A 37-year-old man from Deer Park, Washington, has died following a single-vehicle crash near the Idaho/Washington border on State Highway 58 in Kootenai County, Idaho.
Incident Details
The crash occurred on October 7, 2024, at approximately 2:59 p.m. The man, driving a red 2022 Kenworth, was heading westbound on SH58 toward the Idaho/Washington border when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned in a ditch. Emergency responders from both the Idaho State Police and Coeur d'Alene Tribal Police were dispatched to the scene.
Emergency Response
The driver was extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to Kootenai Health by LifeFlight. Unfortunately, he was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the hospital. Authorities confirmed that the driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Road Closures and Investigation
The crash caused a five-and-a-half-hour closure of SH58, allowing emergency crews to process the scene before the road could be safely reopened. The Idaho State Police have confirmed that the crash remains under investigation, and no additional details have been provided.
