What would you do? What would you do if you were skiing or snowboarding in Idaho and your ski lift got stuck, malfunctioned, or began going backward? For many, this is their worst fear when they hit the slopes, as ski lifts can be unpredictable and a scary thing to ride on. There is little to no control a person has when on the ski lift, and that lack of control raises anxiety for many. When one decides to not do what it is supposed to, it leaves riders at the mercy of the lift, and with a tough decision to make. If you are on a ski lift not doing what is desired, what is the best way to handle it?

Ski Lift Going Backwards in Idaho

Recently, a story was written about a ski lift that went backward in the country of Georgia that was caught on camera. It left multiple people injured, but luckily, no fatalities. Watching the scary video above, makes one wonder, if this were to happen in Idaho, what is the best way to handle the situation? Do you jump off and take your chances of hitting the ground below? Do you stay seated, afraid to jump, but put yourself at the mercy of the ski lift flinging you into the air as seen in the video, or crash into other chairs, also leaving you at the mercy of the lift? Neither is ideal, but jumping can be terrifying as well, with the lift moving and falling into the snow below. After experiencing something like this, what happens next?

Many people travel to Idaho every year to hit the slopes, and for some, it is their favorite part of living in the Gem State. If something like this were to happen, would it make you hesitant to hit the slopes again? Snowboarding and skiing costs a pretty penny, and investing in all the gear and the passes will lessen a bank account, but being on a malfunctioning ski lift would give anyone reason to be afraid to hit the slopes again. As often as people go, an incident like the one above would be rare, but there would have to be some mental damage the next time you approach a lift, not sure what will happen or if you can trust it. Would you call it quits and stop hitting the slopes, or would you chalk it up to a one-time thing, and continue to go with confidence?

If the incident above were to occur while on a lift, I would likely skip the rest of the season, but would be willing to hit the slopes after some time has passed. If you were on a lift that went backward, got stuck, or malfunctioned in Idaho, what would you do?
