What Would You Do? Someone Farting On You in Public in Idaho

What would you do? What would you do if you were out in public and someone farted around you, or even worse, farted on you? Would you say something? Would you let it go? Would it end in a confrontation, or would you laugh it off? Do you make a scene or talk to them once you are no longer around people? Does the smell matter? What if you smell a fart around you, but aren't sure where it came from, would you say something? We have all passed gas in public before, and we have all smelt or heard someone else do it as well, but when it happens what do you do?

Many find farts funny. Smelling one, while gross, can make people laugh hysterically, and the same goes for hearing a loud boom in public as well. Some find them gross, immature, and in no way comical. These individuals are more likely to make a scene by getting upset, being grossed out, or confronting someone over this natural occurrence. When someone tries to play it off and hope nobody notices, would you ruin it for them and let everyone know they are the culprit or would you let it slide? Does where you are matter? At church, you may decide to take the respectful route, compared to being in line at the grocery store or if stuck in an elevator with someone. 

How to Handle Public Farting in Idaho

While farting is offensive, it is in no way illegal but can lead to getting arrested if you force it onto someone. Recently I spoke with an officer after reading a story about a man that got charged with battery after farting on a cop. He told me you can't get arrested for farting, but once you push someone's head into it, do it on someone directly, or touch them to force them to smell it, it could become battery. The actions after the fart dictate what happens next, and may decide how many react. It is best to not make a scene if you are the one doing it, but others around you that don't appreciate it will likely make a scene for you and out you as a public farter.

So what is the best way to handle someone around you farting in public? Typically, most people are already embarrassed and hoping to gun and run from their smell. Because of this, I do my best to not embarrass them more by bringing attention to it, but there are rare situations when the smell is so potent or the fart is so blatant that it is tough to ignore. If someone around you farts near or on you in public, what would you do?
