Where Did Your Favorite Idaho Fast Food Chains Come From?
Twin Falls has plenty of fast food restaurants, and while there are some that many wish it had that it doesn't, and others that some wish would go away and be replaced by the ones not here, most enjoy having a variety to choose from. Everyone seems to have their favorites. Chick-fil-A, Burger King, Taco Bell, McDonald's, and Wendy's are only a few of the fast-food chains that call Twin Falls home. Have you ever wondered though, as you eat that chicken sandwich, hamburger and fries, or taco and burrito, where did your favorite food chain originate from? Some may have started locally, while others might be from the region or even got started on the other side of the country.
Fast Food Chains that Started in California
It is well known in these parts that California and Idaho are not the best of friends, but perhaps Idaho should be a little nicer to the West Coast state because it has done a fine job of supplying the Gem State with some of the best fast food options. Many of the Magic Valley's favorite places to eat started in California. Some of the places that started there include Taco Bell, Carl's Jr, Panda Express, Jack in the Box, McDonald's, and soon, In-N-Out. Many of these are at the top of the list that Idahoans love to enjoy, but they aren't the only options in Idaho.
Where Fast Food Chains in Idaho Came From
While many options started in California, others that residents enjoy are more spread throughout the country. KFC started south of Idaho in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Starbucks, as most people know, started in Seattle, Washington. For those who are happy that Chipotle is back in the Magic Valley, you have Colorado to thank. Sonic is based out of Oklahoma, with Dairy Queen and Jimmie John's both coming from Illinois. One of the Magic Valley's most popular places is Culver's which started in Wisconsin. Wendy's and Arby's both began in Ohio, with two popular pizza chains, Little Caesars and Dominoes starting in Michigan. The next time you are waiting in the Chick-fil-A line, now you know that it all started in Georgia.
It is interesting to see where your favorite places come from. You eat them everyday, every week, and every month, but you likely had no idea where they started from. The next time you are eating at one of these places, now you know where it started, and perhaps you may want to go visit the original one someday and check it off your bucket list.
