Halloween is one of the most exciting nights of the year. Many dress up in costumes, go door to door trick-or-treating, to parties, and having fun. For those that plan on being outside or going door to door, the weather is a major factor in how to dress and how the night will go. On years that the weather in nice, it makes for more candy, more houses, and a fun experience for everyone. On years when the weather is cold, windy, and wet, typically trick-or-treaters will call it a night earlier, ending with less candy, less houses hit, and perhaps a cold the next day as well. It can ruin the experience. We all have Halloweens we remember being terrible because of the weather, but now as a parent, do you make your kid suffer, or do you skip one of the best nights of the year?
Halloween Weather This Year in Idaho
Last year, Halloween was chilly and windy, and many kids did not enjoy it as previous years. The three years prior, the weather was nice, with most nights in the 50s and one even in the low 60s. The good thing about the Magic Valley is that there are so many trunk-or-treats and Halloween events throughout October that if Halloween is ruined by weather, most kids aren't too disappointed because they have had the chance to wear their costume multiple times, already have pounds of candy at home, and took advantage of the nicer weather days or did events indoors. Still, there is nothing like going door to door and truly tick-or-treating the way it is intended to be done and the way many of us grew up enjoying it. It only happens once a year, so will a little wind, rain, and cold weather stop you from taking the kids?

If the weather is bad this year do you keep the kids at home and skip the festivities or do you suck it up and take them out and bare the elements for a few hours? When you are done you can warm up with a hot shower, some hot coffee or hot chocolate, and deal with the fall out the next day. The good news is that Halloween is on a Friday this year, so you can recover for a couple of days instead of going to work the next day. If the weather is bad for Halloween this year, what would you do?
