Over the long holiday weekend for Memorial Day in Idaho, there were 2 fatality vehicle accidents reported by the Idaho State Police. Both accidents are under investigation.

On Saturday evening, May 27th, a 20-year-old male was killed while riding his motorcycle near Boise and a 37-year-old male was killed in a car accident near Idaho Falls.

2 Die On Idaho Roads Over Memorial Day Weekend

The Saturday accident happened on I84 at milepost 41, near 10-mile Road at 6:48 PM. The police report states:

A 20-year-old male from Caldwell was traveling at a high rate of speed, eastbound on I84 on a Kawasaki Motorcycle. The vehicle impacted the right barrier and the driver came to rest on the roadway. The motorcycle then struck a Chevrolet Tahoe being driven by a 44-year-old female from Las Vegas, Nevada.

The rider of the Kawasaki motorcycle was wearing a helmet but succumbed to his injuries at the scene of that accident.

A few hours later, and only 2 miles from the first fatal motorcycle, on I84 at milepost 43, an 18-year-old male was also riding a Kawasaki motorcycle at a high rate of speed. The teen rear-ended a Toyota Camry going in the same direction. The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet and was not killed in the accident. He was transported to a nearby hospital.

The second fatality accident in Idaho over Memorial Day Weekend happened Sunday evening at 10:56 PM in Bonneville County on South Yellowstone Highway. The police report states:

A 19-year-old male, of Idaho Falls, was driving northbound in a Ford Explorer, and a 37-year-old male, of Shelley, was driving southbound in a Nissan Murano.
The Ford crossed the center line and impacted the Nissan head-on. The Ford came to rest on the southbound right shoulder and the Nissan in the northbound lane of travel.

The teen was transported to a local hospital and the adult male succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.
