3 Drivers From Nevada Hit Cows and 1 Horse on Idaho Road
Animals on a highway in southwest Idaho caused a multi-vehicle accident late Wednesday night.
2 motorcycles and a Jeep hit cows and a horse on a section of road in the Duck Valley Reservation near the Nevada border.
Motorcyclists From Nevada Hit a Cow and a Horse on Idaho Highway
Idaho State Police responded to the accidents on Thursday, July 18th, shortly after 10:30 PM on Highway 51 at milepost 9 in Owyhee County. Police say there were 3 separate accidents at the same time involving drivers from Nevada and large animals on the road.
A 2017 Jeep Compass was driving southbound on State Highway 51. The driver, a 36-year-old female from Owyhee, Nevada, struck a cow in the roadway.
A 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle was driving northbound on State Highway 51 at milepost 9. A 61-year-old-male of Spring Creek, Nevada, struck a horse in the roadway.
A 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle was also northbound on State Highway 51 at milepost 9. A 62-year-old-male of Elko, Nevada, struck a separate cow in the roadway.
The driver of the Jeep was wearing a seatbelt and the driver of the 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle was wearing a helmet and both were transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. The driver of the 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle was wearing a helmet and transported by air ambulance to a local hospital.
The accidents are being investigated by ISP.
ISP Troopers also responded to an accident in Payette County Thursday night at 11:28. The crash was a head-on collision on I84 at mile marker 9. Details from the police report:
A blue 1999 Buick Century, driven by a 43-year-old male from Nampa, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I84. A purple 1997 Chevrolet GMT-400 pickup, driven by a 39-year-old male from Nampa, was driving eastbound on I84. The Buick Century struck the Chevrolet pickup head-on before coming to rest in the median, while the Chevrolet came to rest in the eastbound lanes. A 1998 Ford Expedition, driven by a 48-year-old male from Ontario, Oregon, was driving eastbound. The Ford collided with the Chevrolet.
The drivers of both the Buick and the Chevrolet were transported by air ambulance to a local hospital.
The accident blocked the eastbound lanes of the highway for around 3 hours.
